Thursday, October 1, 6:30 - 8:00 at the Rockford Grange
Mark your calendars now for this 3rd Community Forum sponsored by the Fellowship in our series on the democratic process. As the November "midterms" approach, we will hear again from election officials responsible for administering elections in the Gorge on both sides of the Columbia River.
In addition to election officials and experts, we are inviting representatives of the press and media to take part in what we expect will be an informative and lively discussion.
Our Forum on Free Speech and the Press last February demonstrated how fortunate we are in our rural communities to continue having a vibrant and effective press and media presence.
The April forum on Free and Fair Elections provided us with an inside look at how elections are administered in our Gorge counties; we came away confident that the process from voter registration, signature verification to vote tallies is professionally, thoroughly and reliably conducted.
Misinformation, disinformation, confusion and a misguided - if not openly hostile - Federal administration all threaten to undermine our right to vote and our faith in the electoral process. A first step in resistance is to arm ourselves with information, and to find out more about what each of us can do.
