What do you do when the story you’ve lived by–your philosophies, your way of being, your belief system–goes flat, hits a wall, or the story completely fails? We will learn about infinite regress and the art of the reflective moment–a path toward broadening, deepening, and revitalizing our stories. By turning the events of our lives into a soulful experience, we’ll meet head-on our individual fragmentation, explore our many rooms, dialogue with our many voices, and re-establish a relationship with the world around us. 

A number of musicians and singers who graced our Fellowship this past year have been invited to join the line-up as Paul Blackburn and Dick Withers lead our traditional sing along service to honor and celebrate labor. 

Ajahn Sudanto is the senior monk at the Pacific Hermitage in White Salmon. He is an adherent of Theravada Buddhism - in his words, they are "short on theology, long on renunciation". Sudanto has vowed to abstain from cooking or storing food; he eats only once each day, and only if he is offered food on that day. Come learn about this unusual element of our local religious community. 

How does language affect thought? In systems theory, worldview is the most powerful agent of our lives, shaped by elements such as community, culture and place. Why does the modern Western worldview leave so many of us empty inside while destroying the life-giving forces of clean air, soil, and water? What other worldviews can we look to for inspiration to shape our own? And how does language impact that shape? What levers exist in our toolboxes to have the greatest impact with the least amount of effort? Elona will share insights from her research and hopefully leave you with some new ideas for action. Elona Trogub is the administrator for the Gorge UU Fellowship. Her background is in bioregional community organizing.

We join with Bethel, Riverside UCC and Spirit of Grace this Sunday for our annual outdoor potluck and gathering at the Port Marina Park. This is the covered picnic shelter by the boat marina.

The service area is pretty tree-shaded, but remember that it will likely be hot!

There will be cold drinks and water available.

The offering at our joint worship will go to supply shoes for our Native American youth heading back to school.

A celebration of life for Ray Klebba will be Saturday, July 11, at 1 p.m. in Hood River, Oregon, at the Rockford Grange, 4262 Barrett Ave.
