Volunteer Opportunities

  • A room filled with an audience, primarily older adults, seated and listening to a woman speaking into a microphone. Two men stand at the front of the room, engaged in conversation. The room is decorated with string lights, black curtains, and a flag on the wall. Windows with dark curtains and an exit sign are visible.

    You make Sundays Happen

It takes everyone pitching in to make our Sunday Services what they are. If you can come a little early or stay a little later, we sure would appreciate the support! Simply fill out the form below to get connected to the right person.

Greeters

If you enjoy meeting new people, this might be the perfect fit for you! Every Sunday, our greeters set up the Greeter Table, greet attendees, connect with new visitors, and help guide anyone with questions to the appropriate person. We also need an online Greeter who can connect with folks joining from home. No tech experience required beyond signing into ZOOM.

Setup and Breakdown

Do you enjoy waking up and getting a little exercise to start the day? Have you considered moving chairs for your morning routine? We’d love your help in getting the Rockford Grange set up for service as well as putting chairs away at the end of service. There are a few other bits and bobs related to setup and handy checklist.

Presenters

Would you like to tell your story? Perhaps you’re a professional storyteller, or the leader of a local nonprofit, or simply have had a profound experience or received knowledge that you’d like to share with your community, that aligns with our seven principles. If that’s the case, we may have a spot for you at our Sunday Service!

Tech Team

Are you technologically inclined? Do you enjoy setting up equipment, hosting ZOOM meetings, monitoring sound and video feeds, or doing post-production video editing? We’d love your assistance with Sunday setup and our new initiatives for making short videos to share along with ensuring Sunday sound and video runs smoothly.

Hospitality

Do you enjoy light tidying or making or serving food and beverages? Our hospitality team is looking for you! You can choose to bring a treat or snack (more fruits and vegetables especially welcome), make a soup for Soup Sunday (first Sunday of each month), wash some dishes, come early to help set-up and/or clean-up, or host once a month (a regular schedule is very beneficial for everyone). Do one or more!

Flower Bringers

Do you have a beautiful garden or know someone who does? Perhaps you’re someone who truly understands the value a bouquet can bring to a Sunday morning. If that’s you, consider joining our Flower Bringer team. You’ll be asked to provide a bouquet once a month (or less depending on number of team members). You’ll also be able to gift the bouquet to a recipient afterwards.

Musicians

Are you musically inclined? Do you enjoy practicing for a performance and then performing and getting paid? We offer a musician stipend to musicians who are able to learn a few songs for service, and there’s plenty of room to interject your own flair as well for non-hymn songs.

Worship Team

Do you have suggestions and a vision for services? Plug in by planning our worship services with the Worship Team. From music to speakers to activities, our Sunday Services are a collaboration between the minister and the Worship Team. So please, if you have any ideas to offer, or simply want to learn more about how service decisions get made, get in touch. All voices are welcome.

Lend a Hand at Service!

  • A group of people are sitting around a large wooden table engaged in arts and crafts activities. The table is cluttered with paper, magazines, scissors, glue, stickers, and craft supplies. There are three women visible, one with glasses, and a woman with a blue jacket and a name tag labeled 'Kim.' In the background, there are couches, a fan, and a person holding a cup, with various paper and fabric on the couches and walls.

    Teams

Behind the scenes, there’s plenty of activity to get engaged in. Does anything here spark your interest? If so, just reach out to the committee lead!

Social Justice Council

Our Social Justice Council meets on Fourth Sundays from 12-2 pm in person at the Rockford Grange and online via ZOOM. Currently, there are four subcommittees focused on Sustainability, Climate Justice, Immigration and Democracy + Voting. Each subcommittee is responsible for developing plans for moving their initiatives forward. If there’s a topic you’re passionate about but don’t see it listed, there’s plenty of opportunity to bring new energy and direction. Just be ready to roll up you sleeves and lend a hand.
