Presented by Michael Peterson
Celebrant Rev. Barbara Prose
What do you do when the story you’ve lived by–your philosophies, your way of being, your belief system–goes flat, hits a wall, or the story completely fails? We will learn about infinite regress and the art of the reflective moment–a path toward broadening, deepening, and revitalizing our stories. By turning the events of our lives into a soulful experience, we’ll meet head-on our individual fragmentation, explore our many rooms, dialogue with our many voices, and re-establish a relationship with the world around us.
Presenter Bio:
Michael has lived and worked across the American Midwest and West, in South Korea, Nepal, Italy, and Sierra Leone for non-governmental, non-profit, for-profit, and church organizations, as missionary, teacher, editor/publisher, pastor, administrator, and volunteer in the US Peace Corps. Broadly read in the humanities, literature, psychology, and philosophy, he has earned degrees in theology (B.A.), Rhetoric (M.A.), Social Science (M.A.), and Ecopsychology and Environmental Humanities (D.A.).
Michael is well muddied and bloodied by life. While sorting through the remnants of successful and failed aspirations, businesses, and relationships, and reflecting on the many phases of a psychological life, he has come to believe that the possibilities for a meaningful, fulfilling life, with the right psychological ideas, have never been better.
